Prayers of the Church
The prayers of the Church were developed over centuries by Saints, Bishops, Priests, Deacons, and Disciples of Jesus. Many of these prayers are used in daily and Sunday worship. They offer familiarity, through familiarity they provide comfort to the praying sojourner. That is our hope in sharing them here.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument
of your peace.
Where there is hatred,
let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Act of Contrition
My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong
and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.
In his name, my God, have mercy.

Glory Be
Glory be to the Father
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning
is now, and ever shall be
world without end.
Amen.

The Prayer of St. Benedict
Gracious and holy Father,
grant us the intellect
to understand you,
reason to discern you,
diligence to seek you,
wisdom to find you,
a spirit to know you,
a heart to meditate upon you.
May our ears hear you,
may our eyes behold you,
and may our tongues proclaim you.
Give us grace that our way of life may be pleasing to you,
that we may have the patience
to wait for you
and the perseverance
to look for you.
Grant us a perfect end--
your holy presence,
a blessed resurrection
and life everlasting.
We ask this through Jesus Christ
our Lord.
