The Beliefs
The Beliefs at Walking Prophets follow the beliefs of the universal Christian church that were borne through history, tested by saints, rebuked by sinners, compared in theological academies, debated in the public square for millennium, stretched and compressed in philosophical rhetoric, held-up and struck-down by institutions, and survived to become in part and in whole accepted as the foundation for the faith that Jesus Christ created. Here on this page are these universal Christain beliefs.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. (Gospel of John 1: 1-5)

The Word

The Ten Commandments
-
You shall not covet.
I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
He descended into hell;
on the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.

Mystagogy
Mystagogy is a process of initiation into the mysteries of God, and is a way to grow in faith. The word comes from the Greek word mystagogos, which means "to lead through the mysteries".
Here are some aspects of mystagogy:
-
Initiation
Mystagogy is a process of initiation into the mysteries of God, or into the Mystery of Christ in the Christian tradition.
-
Growth in faith
Mystagogy is a way to grow in faith through prayer, learning, and practicing with other believers.
-
Catechesis
Mystagogy is a form of catechesis that helps people explore the spiritual meaning of the sacraments.
-
Reflection
Mystagogy involves reflecting on the mysteries of life in Christ, and on the meaning and significance of the sacraments.
-
A Way of Life
After the period of coming of age, a journey through the Sacremets of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion, comes the time for Christian mystagogy. Some Christian denominations practice the Rite of Confirmation when the child is around the age of fourteen, a time when right from wrong has been solidly established and the mind can comprehend faith in a more mature way. Mystagogy is period of time from young adulthood to the time of death. It is the time for faithful practice of the faith, a time for growing in grace, practicing charity, and increasing the maturity of inclusion and mercy. Mystagogy is the practice of maturation into the Kingdom of God through the ordinary and the extraordinary acts of faith, hope, and love as we live our lives as individuals in community.
